In this piece I take on our ecological crisis. “Green canopy” is an obvious reference to the vegetation on which all life depends. The globe of the earth is above the canopy. “Thin blue line” refers to the frail thin layer of our atmosphere, as seen from outer space. The flagpole sitter above the Earth shows the human tendency to consider us above and outside of nature.
